Blog #4: Your Analysis Report

Question: What happens to the data from your online diary and how do you receive feedback about your progress and goal achievement?

Method: Analysis report

Explanation: In your online diary you record the key performance indicators (KPI) and control variables relevant to your goal. As soon as you have at least 30 complete entries, I will analyze your data and you will receive your personal analysis report. I will also explain the results in our monthly meeting so that you can understand the data-based adjustments to your training and nutrition plan.

On each page of the analysis report, you can see your goal (e.g. weight loss), your starting point (e.g. weight at the beginning of the coaching) as well as the desired target value (TARGET) and the current status (ACTUAL). Comparing TARGET and ACTUAL, results in your goal achievement in percent (%).

In the first three graphs (p. 1-2), you can see the development of your KPIs over time (see below) as well as a forecast for the next few weeks. The more data we have, the more accurately and the further into the future we can predict your KPIs. We use those forecasts to see whether we are on schedule or whether we need to speed up the process.

On the 2nd page (see below) you can see the results of the driver analyses in the right figure. Here you can see which control variables have the largest effect on your KPIs. Driver analyses show us whether we have found the right settings in your training and nutrition plan in a way that the control variables effectively contribute to your goal.

Finally, on the 3rd page, you can see how well you manage to stick to the planned specifications regarding control variables (e.g., calories). Ideally, your values should have as little variation as possible and, on average, be as close as possible to the target value of the nutrition plan. In addition, you will see the conclusion and the recommendations for action, which can be derived from the analyses.

Conclusion: With the analysis report you receive periodic feedback on the status of your goal achievement. Also, it helps you understand the data-driven recommendations and adjustments to your plans.
